ARMY & NAVY SPECIAL Instruments previously produced by Gibson during the late 1910s. See chapter on House Brands. This trademark has been identified as a Gibson-built budget line available only at military post exchanges (PXs) towards the end of World War I (1918). They will have a label different from the standard Gibson label of the time, yet still be credited to the Gibson Mandolin - Guitar Co. of Kalamazoo, Mich., USA. As a Gibson-built, budget line instrument, these guitars do not possess an adjustable truss rod in the neck, and by now we all know what that means to its value.
